Has any one seen any fireflies lately? They are one of the things I most like about the South. I was going to take the grandkids to Goshen to check them out when this cold front rolled in. And I know they like the weather warm to hot. Any one checked them out lately? Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks

I've lived in Utah for almost 33 years and I've never seen a firefly here. In fact, I honestly thought they were not real (seriously, for some reason I just figured they were a literary thing, or something from kids cartoons) until I went to Virginia a few years back and saw my first bunch. Freaking awesome, and man, I felt dumb.

Yes, I went back down to Goshen to see them again last Wednesday. They were not in the masses I saw them in early June, but I still saw quite a few of them. Wednesday was windy, so perhaps that is why there were not as many out.
By the way, the BYU Professer I had contacted about the Goshen fireflies ended up taking a film crew with him and they did a spot, which ended up on BYU TV. Seth Bybee is the professor I had been corresponding with. Here is their YouTube Video from their trip to the Goshen ponds area:
