Watch the classifieds on www.ksl.com. Also watch the classifeds in the Tribune. I have sold boats and motors. Your best selection will come in the spring. Around April is really the time to look and watch. Good luck.

I've got a couple of used motors, how long does the shaft have to be, to be considered a long shaft? WH2

They are standard lengths I believe short is 15 inches long is 20. I am replacing a short shaft I use for a kicker on my 18ft maxum I just need something that reaches the water a little better when i am standing on the bow. I am willing to trade my 6hp johnson or I will sell it later if I can't work a trade
Thanks cableguy

Do you measure from the bottom of the head and how far down do you measure, to the prop? The motor I'm selling is a 6 HP Evenrude. WH2

I hate buying motors.
You will find one guy with a 1986 beat to hell motor and he wants $800.00 for it. Then you will find another guy who has a 1998 used only two seasons and he wants only $600.00 for it.
Its an outright joke trying to buy kicker motors.
My advice, look new. I know you may not want a new one, or cant afford one, but look new first.
Why? to get a real good idea of how much various engines are worth. If you run into a guy who wants $800.00 bucks for his 1990 10 hp engine, but you know where you can get a new one for $1,200.00 you are going to save yourself from getting ripped off.
Plus someone needs to educate that guy about his engine price.

This site has the best explanation I have found on shaft lengths. Definitely saved me from buying the wrong motor!

My great aunt has one that is in great shape. I think she wanted $600 for it. It is a 9.9 and if I remember right it is a game fisher (a sears brand). If you are still looking I could send you a few pics of it. It realy is in great shape and very few hours on it. We would use it to push us accross the lake then use the electric for the rest of the day.

Well,
I have an electric trolling motor. I would love to get it off my hands. It works well because I haven't used it since I bought it. I bought it hoping I could use it on my little boat named Catfish Hunter, but the boat is too small for it. I would love to sell it. I paid about $300 for it two summers ago. I haven't used it since. It has a foot pedle and battery and user's guide. If someone wants it, please tell me. or email me @ keithgru@cc.usu.edu

Hey cableguy, I too have been looking at trolling motors and I found a website from a place in Draper that sells new, used, and reconditioned motors. It's called iboats.com, I think. The prices they have seem to be pretty good, although I have not researched it alot.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. I think iboats.com is a website used to network boat dealers from around the country. I am still having trouble finding a local utah shop with an inventory on small outboards online.

Look at the contact us folder at the top of the screen. It says they are in Draper Ut. I have'nt called them or went down there so maybe that has changed in the last little while.
