Went scouting for the upcoming CCS Winterim fishing class that some of us from the forum teach later this week. Had been out of town and figured with the warm weather that the fishing would have changed since I was out last. It had. Found crappies at nearly every spot that I checked. Mostly fished Harrison bay and WT creek. Most fish were at about a 4 count and as deep as an 8 count. The water in the creek was stained, usually a bad sign for crappie fishing in my experience, but I was pleasantly surprised that there still were fish that would bite. Most fish were on prespawn areas close to deep water. I would fish a spot and once I got a bite I would move on as I was really just trying to find fish or areas to start in for the kids. Just fished a couple of hours in the afternoon but ended up with 13 good keepers and a few shorts. Good short trip. No 12lb bass for me while crappie fishing. Not like one of my more well known crappie fishing friends.
