Driggs, ID
#1
Hi all.

Heading up to Driggs, ID next week for a few days from SLC, UT. Going to drive from Big Sky, MT down through Yellowstone, then into Driggs. Really interested in the Teton River section that flows west of Driggs. (pretty sure thats the Teton River.) I fly fish and will have to wade as I can't afford a guide ($425.00 half day.) I will be bringing my fly kit and rod, any tips for an out of towner would be stellar!!

Thanks, if you had any questions about fishing here in UT, I should be able to help with that.

All the rivers in this area are high and muddy from snow melt. There really are no rivers that are fishable at this time. You could try some of the lakes. There is Hebgen in Montana, island park res in Idaho, or Jackson lake in Teton park, Wyoming. The rivers won't clear up until late July this year... sorry

Unfortunately I have to second Jacksonlakers assessment of the situation. This year will probably be difficult at best, but future years should at least benefit. [:/]

Bummer. At least I'll be able to enjoy the scenery! I am sure I will take a look at some point just to say I did.

There are/will be fishable waters within an hour or two of Driggs. Just not the Teton. Look higher up, the smallest of streams, and spring-fed waters less subject to runoff. Southern Montana is just a hop, skip, and a jump too, and there's fishable waters there.

Thank you. I have been looking into some spring creeks in the area, perhaps I will have the best luck there. It is supposed to storm all week while I'm on vacation [frown], hopefully a lull will bring out some willing fish.

Storms and spring creeks are usually a dream-come-true combination! PM me the creeks.
