On the Bear ......again......
#1
Wife and I hit the Bear River again today. Weather was great, biting flies were INTENSE in several areas.
Working our way from the bottom bridges back toward the highway, stopped at one spot we have been waiting for the mud to dry up.

Was the only spot where we got more than just some hesitant nibbles. But what I caught was a bit of a surprise. [shocked] Not that there were these fish in the river, I know they are caught by others. But surprised that it hit my big hunk of carp meat sitting on the bottom in fairly shallow water.

24 inch and Fat Walleye...........Yep, he now resides in my freezer for the next time I cook fish. [laugh]

That is a tasty way to avoid the skunk! Great fish and great catch!

The water level on the Bear dropped a lot from yesterday. I stopped on the way home tonight and fished one of my favorite spots. Only had those small bait nibblers pestering my baits. Had one big male cat break the surface, either chasing or being chased, right where I was fishing, but no takers. I think they are in full spawn mode right now and not interested, at least in what I am offering. Probably going to go chase some trout or wipers/walleye at Willard and leave the Bear alone for a while. It's not worth the time.

I'm thinking the same thing Paul. All the big Cats are too busy making babies.
The little bait stealers are the only ones biting now. I've even tried a night trip and came home skunked and sleepy.

Nice Eye Forest.
