Fished East Canyon yesterday. It was a cool morning with partly cloudy skies and a chance of rain. The fishing was fair. We were trolling around the lake and were picking up fish at different depths and in different areas using different lures. We caught fish on pink hoochies, repalas, and trolling spoons but nothing seemed to work much better than anything else. Also, the fish seemed to be spread throughout the water column and we were catching fish near the surface as well as down to 40’ deep trolling. Marking some deeper but had no luck fishing deeper than 40’.
I spoke to several others at the boat ramp and it seemed to be the same for them. Decent fishing with most picking up a handful of smaller rainbows trolling and a few smallmouth being caught pitching lures near shore. We caught 8 fish in 5 hours with a few more on the hook but lost.
The best lures for us were perch rapalas, and pink squid.
The bank fishermen seemed to be picking up a few fish as well.
