Although as little as I’ve been fishing the day pass is probably cheaper so far this year. I think I’ve only been 3 times to a state park on my current pass. Sad but it’s my fault too many irons in the fire. Later J
It must have been a while since you bought a day pass. The fees Bob posted sound right to me and I think Willard could have gone up this year to those higher rates as well.

Yup I've bought annual passes for a lot of seasons now, I didn't realize the daily prices were going up that much... Easier to pay the annual fee when you look at those prices... Thanks Bob and Curt for the info, I'll have to tow the line... Later Jeff

Typical of our state not figuring out what to do or how to do it. I had a buddy have the problem of a few months left on his pass a while back but figuring he would need the other so he bought the new one at full price even though he had a couple months left. He told them that was a bad deal at the entrance booth they said that’s it full price. 10 days later at Deer creek a buddy was to meet him to fish
They wanted 20 bucks for him to drive in and Park, he thought that was crazy! Attendant said you can buy the rest of the year for 50 bucks!!
He bought it, I believe June or early July! He then told his buddy who had recently bought his for 100 just a short time before and being told that’s the deal no plans to prorate!! He was of course very unhappy about how he got shafted!
Also senior discount age used to be 62 they changed it a couple years ago to 65 when the upped the price!!
At least I’ll get a deal soon!!

With regard to day use fees each park appears to be unique and can set their fees based on their use only. Some do have a reduced senior rate while others don't. Some charge more on weekends; others don't. So do you buy an annual pass or just pay a day use fee as you go? The annual pass works at all but one State Park and that one is an OHV park. If you buy the prorated annual pass this year and use it 3 to 5 times (park dependent) between now and Dec 31, 2022, it will have paid for itself. Next year, the annual pass is cheaper than day use fees if you use the annual pass 5 to 10 times (again, park dependent) during the year.

Bob,
I just wanna know if my duck license will be pro-rated if ducks don’t come because Utah doesn’t have much water left! Really.......water and ducks are extra Come to think of it might be good idea to prorate the fees dependent on the fill level of the reservoir using a sliding scale based on official fill levels (talk about frontline staff doing those calcs) Also, they ought to do a surcharge per horsepower and ballast tank size using a sliding scale in consideration of day of the week and holidays. Maybe even a surcharge dependent on diameter of ice fishing hole and if using power or hand auger. Unlimited possibilities for the state..........

All I got to say is don't pass the buck down to the staff, any problems here are not in any way associated with them. I went to Bear Lake today with the grandkids and the attendant led me along to assure I asked the right questions to get the senior prorate for the remainder of the year, which I'm totally OK with. Apparent lack of transparency and consistency is my entire gripe here, ans that is in no way on the front line staff.

Good to know and I'm sure we all agree but how much did you end up paying for your senior prorated pass?

It cost me $25 as previously described. Not a true prorate, but rather a 50% cost for any remaining portion of 2022. Again, ask for senior and insist. As to the latter, I did also show my recently expired year pass when asking, and am not sure if that is absolutely needed or not, though it would be reasonable to expect so.

My friend did not have an old pass, he got his at 50 bucks, he is not not senior, did not ask they told him it’s prorated now. So he bought it for half price it was late June or early July at Deer Creek.

***Does not seem fair that some could still be charged full price if they don’t ask
When I got mine at Willard they told me they were prorated so it was 50 bucks
Didn’t offer senior half price, I guess to my young appearance LOL.
Actually I’m not quite there yet, but soon….
