Change at Lincoln beach
#1
I don't know if this has been reported or when they even put them up but I was at Lincoln beach doing a drive by 2 nights ago and there were concrete barriers blocking off passage to hot spring and lake access on North dike side. It was 11 pm when I was there so I didn't get a perfect look but it appeared to be a about 7-10 construction barriers lined up so people can no longer drive on North dike or to hot springs. If someone reported this already forgive me.

Good to know, thank you!

It was only a matter of time. With all of the unsanctioned campfires, guys cracking off shotguns at coots, and the litter left behind. Not sure that vehicles were ever expressly allowed down there, but regardless, this is why we can't have nice things.

The long-standing regulation in Utah is that lakebeds below the high water mark are off limits to vehicles has been waived on Lincoln Beach for the past few years.  Each year I would contact Ben Stireman at the Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands to renew permissions for small boat anglers and bank tanglers to access Utah Lake off the exposed rocks at low water.  He would then contact DWR and the Sheriff Dept. to advise them to relax their enforcement...ticketing only non-angler types that trashed the area or just made donuts in the mud, etc.  He would always advise me that if the destructive traffic got out of hand they would rescind the temporary passport.  I did not even bother contacting him this year and evidently the dimbulbs got out of hand and have now ruined it for all.

Ya its been said that it only takes a few to ruin for everybody, but in the case of Lincoln beach there is more than a few that have ruined it for everybody. It gets old how many times we take extra grocery bags or a garbage bag with us to pick up the extra " to darn lazy trash left behind". I'm not going to stop doing it as Lincoln beach is my go to spot for many reasons so I'll continue to pick up garbage. But I was just half surprised to see barriers. I've almost been hit by a car walking on the north dike because guy was careless and ran off the roadway into the bushes. It was only a matter of time in the few years I've been going there which is about 5-6. Hopefully it helps with garbage as well as trash on the ground......

I been going down there myself for many years and i didn't like it when they tried blocking everyone out the first time but after seeing what people have done the last while its best to keep there ass out of there they are lazy and disrespectful and have no business sharing any of our public ground with the rest of us
