Strawberry ice fishing?!
#1
I have yet to hit Strawberry this season.  With the closer lakes remaining fishable, I have not taken the drive up there.  With the warm trend, I may make the trip, pending on the reports I receive.  I have read about the snow/ice depth being pretty deep and difficulty getting an auger down to water several weeks ago.  I am thinking of heading up there this weekend and am looking for any reports on the ice, access, depth for best catching, if it is still safe ice, etc?

Thanks!

From the DWR:
April 7, 2023: The fishing is good to great. The ice is over 40" thick. Several anglers report needing an auger shaft extension or having to dig down through the top layer of snow/crust to punch through the ice. Anglers are reporting high cutthroat catch rates fishing both shallow (10 to 20 feet of water) and deeper water (50 to 70 feet of water). White colored tubes/jigs seem to be working well when
tipped with meal worms, wax worms, or shrimp.

I'm heading up with a buddy Sunday.
