[font "Arial"][size 2]The 2-3 foot seas predicted for Monday were actually 4-5 foot. I fished in rough waters 20 miles off Naples with the John & Carla Bolan party. We caught keeper mangrove snapper to 17 inches and large porgies. We released 15 gag grouper to 21 inches (see photo below), along with loads of blue runners. The Bolan party had originally planned to fish Tuesday also, but decided they’d had enough of those rough conditions on Monday. The winds and seas persisted through Thursday.
On Friday, I fished in the calm waters of Estero Bay, along the shoreline between Big Carlos Pass and Hickory Bay, with live shrimp. Pat McKeown and son, Chris, caught one keeper redfish, and released a smaller one. They also caught a sheepshead, and released two small snook, jack cravalle, mangrove snapper, and ladyfish.
