Hey there guys,
Heard that a deckhand on the Tracer took a jump into the drink to chase a yellowtail he had gaffed. Seems another angler got tangled with the gaff so the deckhand let go then jumped in the water to retrieve the gaff and came with the fish too.
Reckon he got a good tip for that one? He better have. Truth is... one of the top three no no's for a deck hand is to lose a gaff. Plenty of decks have been fired for that as the last straw!

when i was a deckhand on the sportboat the SEA SPORT i was gaffing a big bonita and a BIG bull - dog came from under the boat and got in the way stuck him in the shoulder and held on for maybe 5 seconds before it was ripped out of my hands and last seen heading west the captain was not amused but he did reliase it was a mistake....are the seals as bad now as say 20 years ago i remember them following us from spot to spot all day stealing peoples fish

we were fishing the shoe one day when a guy hooked up a WSB he could only get it up to about 15' below the boat and no more we finally figured out it was stuck to the bottom with a broke off line i ws stripping down to go over after it when it broke off from the guy on the boat and swam back down out of sight
