Wind, Rain, and Motion Sickness
#1
Windy conditions on my past two trips have had one of the two anglers each day experiencing motion sickness. Both trips were the afternoon/evening variety. On Wednesday, catching pilchards and herring was a snap. On our second drift, the down rigger bait hooked up and the fish was making a very strong run when the line went slack. We thought the hook had pulled, however, it turned out that the line broke. After rerigging, motion sickness set in for one angler and we headed to Government Cut seeking calmer water and to fish for barracuda. The cudas cooperated and Jesse had a great time catching his first one. Back to the south side and on the second drift with live crabs, we got two big jumps and a 50 yard run from a 70 pound tarpon. We called it an evening as motion sickness once again got the best of the other angler.

Thursday, the wind blew a bit stronger. We had a few sprinkles while catching bait and then managed to avoid the rain storms for the remainder of the trip. Three strikes on the down rigger and one fish (AJ) hooked up and was landed. Another case of motion sickness sent us down to Government Cut again. Once again, on the second drift, we hooked up to a 100 pound tarpon and after a 20 minute battle, we released it just in time to out run a very large and intense rain storm.

Captain Dave Kostyo
Knot Nancy Fishing Charters
305 620-5896 Charter
305 732-2628 Beeper
www.rnfl.com/knotnancy
nkostyo@bellsouth.net
