And to think, that's a Channel Cat. Imagine catching the equivalent in a Blue Cat or Flathead Cat, which get much larger.

Hey Mom2k, Hi and welcome to the Bigfishtackle message boards. We have a few Moms on the message boards and have room for more.
As far as the catfishing goes, what are you using for bait and what type of riggings are you using? We might be able to offer you some ideas that could help you. Also, which waters are you fishing?? Is is a pond or a river/stream??
The techniques for these are distinct and there are a few different options for each of them. Please give us any information that you can so that we can help you. (please don't give any personal information, only information that pertains to fishing)
There are many members here that would be glad to lend you a helping hand.

Mom, I'm touched that you chose one of my posts as one of the first you replied to. You're so sweet!
Welcome aboard! The more fishin' moms we have in this world, the better.
There have already been some good discussions in here about catching catfish. There's a whole slew of baits to try in the "recipe's" board.

Well me and my mom icefool go fishing almost on a daily basis my favorite is the great sport of wiper fishing but every so often we go to a pond and try to catch a cat or so. well I have tried floating a worm up with a marshmellow to using chicken liver and shrimp I've gotten quite a few bites but never landed one.
Thanks for making me fill welcome tubeN2

It sounds like you are fishing the waters of Utah with which I am familiar with. In some areas the cats like smelly bait. Anchovies, mackeral and older shrimp seem to work well.
Where are you fishing for the Cats?? Willard used to be one of my favorites. The Jordan river was also in my list of top 10 areas.

I have always wondered what a 32lb cat looked like. because that is what our state record is which was caught in the 70's here in utah.

Now if you can just find one that's a tiny bit larger than the state record.... say, 35 lbs.
