West Yellowstone area fishing? Fish Lake report too
#1
Hi all. I am going up to do some snowmobbiling in the park over New Years and was wondering if anyone has ever fished the West Yellowstone area. I will be bringing a flyrod and spinning outfit. Any info is appreciated.

Also I fished Fish Lake (down south) on the way to st. George for Thanksgiving. We used minnows at the Twin Creeksarea and caught a few splake largest going 21".

Most of the water around West Yellowstone is very hard around Christmas. The Madison River between Hebgen Lake and Quake Lake can be very very good during this time. Fish behind the big bolders with nympshs.

Ice Fishing Hebgen, Cliff Lake, Wade Lake and Elk Creek can be very rewarding. To fish the last three, you will have to snowmobile into them to fish them. Island Park Reservoir can also be good ice fishing.

Yellowstone Park is closed to fishing until Memorial Day on most waters. You'll have to fish some of the waters mentioned above.
