EDITOR’S NOTE: Due to rapidly changing weather conditions in the Sierra and Northern Nevada, anglers are urged to call ahead to the sources listed at the end of each area description for reports on the latest road and water conditions.

TRUCKEE RIVER: The river is a little high now, but pretty clear and fishable. Panther Martins and Rapalas should work well. Mark Fore & Strike, 786-3474 or 322-9559.

PYRAMID LAKE: Fishing is still pretty decent. Boat launches are open. Boaters doing pretty well in front of the Nets, trolling down about 15-20 feet using U-20 Flatfish in chub colors or purple with a glow belly. Wiggle worts also working well. Anglers still doing well with spoons in fluorescent orange and tui chub colors. Shore guys doing pretty well casting spoons and/or casting 1/2-ounce maribou jigs. Fly-fishing is starting to pick up, but still not red-hot. Best around Wino Beach. A lot of fish being caught in the 19-24-inch range. Fishing will only continue to get better and usually peaks around mid-February to mid-April. Mark Fore & Strike, 786-3474 or 322-9559.

TOPAZ LAKE: Fishing has been fair, but the weather has kept many anglers away. Trollers doing well using small, No. 5 Rapalas or Needlefish near the surface. Mark Fore & Strike, 786-3474 or 322-9559. Topaz Marina, 266-3550. Topaz Lodge 266-3338.

SACRAMENTO RIVER: Flows at 3,700 c.f.s. Anderson, Calif. Before the rain, fishing for kings was fair to good. A few salmon have been caught this week, averaging 15-25 pounds. Flatfish T-50s and T-55s is the best bet for kings. King salmon season closes Friday.
Redding to Anderson, Rainbow trout. As weather allows, fly-fishing for rainbows producing some nice trout in the Redding to Anderson area. PTs and Micro May Fly nymphs working well. Practicing catch-and-release method.
