Scofield Ice Conditions?
#1
Anybody been to Scofield this week? I just got a new Honda Foreman and am dyin to get it out on the ice. I know Strawberry was good last weekend for wheelers but I was hoping to try Scofield! A post from last week said Scofield wasn't to good for wheelers. Thanks for any help. Great fishin to you all!

[cool]I haven't fished Scofield in overa month, but it hasn't snowed up there in a couple of weeks, so you should be good with your wheeler. Hope you have a power auger, as ice will be around 2 ft thick. Good luck to ya.

I just got back a few hours ago. The ice is pretty thick, with a layer of hard snow above it. Between the two, my arms are very tired! The top of my hand auger was about 6 inches below the surface before I was breaking through (probably a little over 2 feet). Hopefully you have a power auger. If not, I'd suggest recycling old holes.

Overall, it was well worth the effort. I had a buddy and three kids with me. We iced about 15 fish during the afternoon, all in about 10' of water. We managed to pull out a 19" rainbow that was as big around as a football (seriously). We did leave many of them behind for you to catch this weekend.[Wink]

Good luck!
