Going for Giant Squid

All this talk about BIG squid done give me the itch.

I'm gonna go out on the Seaforth Landing Thursday evening boat & try to pull on some.

Y'all oughta give it a try. My buddy & I went out of Davey's a couple years ago & had a blast on the smaller (2#-5#) models. It's absolute mayhem. I can only guess what it's like with a boatload of 30 pounders![shocked]

I heard that some of the boats are hooking up on 300 to 400 squid while others are only catching 3 or 4 total.

Got skunked. I only took 2 squid jigs with me & lost em both. They packed 80 head on the New Seaforth. A total clusterflock. [mad]

Luckily for the 5 deckhands it never really went WFO. After a couple hours of slow pick they finally started to go off about 30 minutes short of quittin' time.. Total mayhem. I'd already had both my jigs sawed off and none were available on the boat so I got to watch. The boat wound up with 240 Squid.

Kinda funny. After packin' on 80 head (they were trying for more but the late arrivals took a look, turned around & went home) they had a mandatory "safety seminar!" One of the few times I wished I'd got caught in traffic!

Thanks for the report. Sorry about your jigs. It is so important ot go well stocked for certain types of fish.

Well, if ya decide to go, get the medium size jigs. The squirts were eatin' those better than anything else. Only about $7, too. Tell ya what, gettin' a 20 dollar bill sawed off (twice) stings a bit! [pirate]

Catching 'em might not be so bad but I heard the clean up is the bummer. Were they paintin' the boat black?
