Anyone find an auger lately?

My son and I went to Rockport this morning and when we stopped, our power auger, propane tank and sled were gone. They must have blown out of the truck on the way up. We back tracked and had someone from home start from there to no avail. The only thing we could do was wait for Sportsman's to open and replace the missing stuff. The sled has a BFT sticker on it, so I hope that whoever found it will look here for the owner. The only good thing to happen today was that we went back up at noon and had our limit of perch in a couple of hours and then moved closer to shore and got into the trout..
The funny thing is that we have taken the sled and auger on two other trips to the Berry with no problems. I guess we were just not supposed to be on the ice this morning.

Talk about a harsh trip! I tend to wonder if someone borrowed it out of the back of your truck either before you left, or perhaps at the local gas station. I doubt, it's possible, but I doubt that much weight could get blown out of your truck. Either way, I hope someone is honest. I'd call the local police depts to see if they have any reported items.

Got to be a tough way to start the day. My worst loss in transit was a new spare tire for my boat that was lost somewhere between North Salt Lake and Currant Creek Reservoir.

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience. I had something similar happen to me a few years back. I had just started up weber canyon and when I looked in my rear view mirror, my cousins sled/tent was hovering about two feet above the truck bed. Fortunately, I was able to pull over and secure it better before it had a chance to fly away. Hopefully, the person that discovered your equipment is honest enough to print an ad in the newspapers lost and found or something. At least the fishing treated you right..[]
