Ogden Parkway
#1
Hit the parkway again on friday. Caught two small browns, seems the fish were more interested in the midge hatch going on then my beadhead pheasant tail. I need to get some yong specials tied up, the fish were very active feeding on the midges. Does anyone have a good midge nymph pattern that does well on the Ogden?

You got a bit more lucky than I did, I was up the canyon and the fish weren't feeding at all. I bumped the nose of each and every trout with everything I had and still no takes.

The yong will work well, along with zebra midges, RS-2 in small sizes, small para adams, and g-gnat. I've found a pheasant tail to work well also in smaller sizes.

I need to get up there again, hopefully the fish will be feeding for me this time.

I have had good success with a Griffith's Gnat size 20 dry or a Prince Nymph size 16 or 18. Don't forget to try a scud or a caddis larva. Good luck and report back, DKS.

16 or 18 red serendipity is one of my favorite trailer pattern on the ogden.
Also this fly which is close to the serendipity is one of my favorite in the winter on the ogden.

Thanks one and all for the help. This is great. Do you have the tying instructions for the crotchrocket fly?

red DMC floss
Deer hair

Split the DMC into 3 strands and tie it in along the whole shank so as to not get a hump. twist it wrap, twist and wrap, twist and wrap to the front. Stack the deer hair(the more varigated the tips are the better) tie a spars amount at the head. Whip finish. The End.
