State line lake
#1
Went to the lake on the state line with Fish4Fun. He's an awesome guy, so that was a lot of fun. We fished the main pond, caught about seven or eight apiece. He showed me a new technique that I hadn't fished since living in Cali a few years back and we got on the fish right away....very nice!!![cool] Then we fished around a little more, headed down the outlet together. We ran out of room and beached the tubes/pontoon and walked down river switching off on casts the whole way. Got into more than our fair share of bass, some with some nice size to them. Got to see ducks, heard a ton of dogs yapping all around us in the mist, which was kinda cool and spooky, and also saw a couple fighter/bomber jets later in the afternoon. When we got back from hiking the outlet, we fished the bluegill areas until dark and then headed home. All in all a nine out of ten on the good trip scale and only a nine because we didn't get any monsters for the wall. I still had an awesome time and it was really nice to meet somebody to fish with that lives so close to me. I'm always up for fishing with new people and any fears I had about the encounter went right out the window when I met him. John, you're a stud!! Hopefully it won't be the last time we fish together cause it was really a blast. Anyway, again, the trip was long but the experience was well worth the effort we put out to get on fish.

About what we fished with...... Stuff..... [cool] Just kiddin. I know I already sent you the PM but what I fished in the morning were hard baits, made by Storm. I fished soft plastics during the later morning and afternoon and then when I fished for the bluegill, I fished just a little chunk of worm with a BB shot above it. Not much to that rig but the fish dug it. It was John's thing that he showed me so I'll let him post up since I'm not into divulging other's secrets. It was a good time but I still haven't figured out how to get the deep fish to bite....thats ok, I've found there are others that are more willing if I can't find the key in the main lake. Fsh4Fun pulled out a couple deep fish but he was dropshotting and I just am not all that good at it so thats probably why I didn't do as well as he did. Come on spring, I need to try this at some other waters too.... [Smile]

Sounds like a great time. I've never fished out that way, but one day I'd like to. Good luck on your next trip out.
