It appears now that besides having a one mile safety zone around the ten story ark, you will be required to keep a safty zone away from the ship and the ships will be entering from the race. How they plan on keeping these ships away from the fishing boats is beyond me. Bad enough there will be an area that is off limits to boats around the station, now they want us to move out of the way for the ships to pass into the race. We all know this area is one of the top fishing areas of the sound. We'll have to see how well the boys are willing to move.

unfortunatly,it isn't a dayly deal.large ships, navel sub,and barges constantly are in and out of the race all week long and weekends.i think this stems from the accident last summer ,between the tanker and cabin cruiser. with the fishing pressur out there, and amount of boats it is going to be tough.looks like new york will make some money on fine out there

I wonder if they could come into the sound by way of Shelter Island. That would put the problem back into their lap.

we get that in the detroit river a few weekends out of the year, Yaht & Hydroplain races, plus freighters shoe away walleye boaters.
that is why when I go, I go only on the weekdays.... that way I only have to deal with freighters.
