I drove past Deer Creek on Saturday. The reservoir was wide open for launching boats at both Marinas. There was some ice on the east end of Wallsburg bay, etc., but clear otherwise.

Water levels are better than they have been in years. Ice at the WEST end of the lake, by the damn. also in the Wallsberg channel, and Rainbow Bay. Some new ice formed over night in the shallows by the island, thin and will offer no problems. Basicly the main part of the lake is clear and boats have been lauching the last few days. All boat ramps clear and under water. Fish the shore lines for trout and maybe a bass if they are playing yet. The east end shallows for some big carp. Haven't heard of any eyes being taken this early.

We fished Deer Creek last Saturday evening from the boat. Caught one nice rainbow on the steep banks below the tracks. Had motor problems so we didn't get much fishing in. Have been catching lots of fish this winter at deer creek casting olive jigs tipped with meal worms towards the shore lines. "FISH ON"

We got the boat out for it's first trip of the year on saturday and both ramp's have more water then I have seen in a long time...We only fished for an hour and a half or so but boated 16 nice rainbow's the biggest going 4.8 pound's. We were using red gold sand Humdingers from my company Shasta Tackle and also caught a few on broken back rapala'a (black-silver.) The average depth that we fished was 15 feet. Hope this help's

Great report, I'm guessing you were trolling, if you were, what was your speed? We don't hear of bows that big caught while trolling very often, that must be one great lure, does Sportsmans sell them? WH2
