I noticed they turned on the bubblers at the marina 3 days ago. I was wondering if anyone has been up recently and what the condition of the marina was? We had a pretty good wind the last couple of night.

I just traded in my weldcraft for a brand new 20' foot custom weld cobra se. I pick it up on Monday from Idaho Falls. I'm pretty jacked about getting out but I refuse to launch on the east side at least until I get used to the boat.[crazy] So if anyone has a any info or even a guess I'd appreciate the response.

Scott posted a message earlier in the week, he said he had ask them to turn the other bubblers on and was hoping that it would help break up the ice sooner. If you don't get a response soon, I would send a PM to Scott or Darin, I'm sure one of them can give you an update. Also Fish1on is usually up there on the weekend, so maybe he can help you. Congratulations on the new boat, I sure would like to see it, do you think you could post a picture of it when you get a chance? Good luck on getting the boat out soon, there's a lot of us the want to get on the big blue lake, so let us know. WH2

Thanks guys, I can't hardly wait to get it on the water. I'm a firm believer in the American way (in debt up to your eyebrows), I just know to many people that wait until they retire before getting alot of the nicer things in life. I believe get it while your younger and enjoy it that much longer if you can. My dad thought I was crazy when I got my first new boat but he agrees with my thinking now. I'm sure I'll see alot of you guys out on Bear Lake and Flaming Gorge. I go to Palies alot and Jackson Lake I just hope there is enough water up there this year. Northern Utah and southern Idaho done alot better in the moisture department.

Wow, very nice boat, now I'll know its you when I see it at the Bear. Does the back end come with a cover that closes it in, so you can stay warm on those cold fall and winter days on the lake?

Ya for another $1200.00. there is plenty of room in the front with my 15,000 btu heater when trolling and the heater defroster when the big motor is running.[]

Thats a chunk of change for the cover, for that price it would be a lot cheaper to use the heater, even if you ran two. If thats what the cover cost, the boat must have really set you back but like you said, you might as well enjoy it while your still young.

NICE LOOKING BOAT. It looks all aluminum. I'm curious, what are the advantages of alum over glass other than the obvious weight factor? Is there a web address for the place where you bought it?

(I wonder how many beer cans it takes to make one of those)

Like you said weight is a major factor. Plus I can run in 5" water at full throttle at 55 mph (if I ever needed to) also I can launch in about 12" of water. Plus I guess just Personal preferance. I'm not sure what the web address is the name is Precision Marine in Idaho Falls.

As for getting out thru the State Marina....

I just got back from Bear Lake an hour ago. I was the first boat to launch out of the State park marina this year. Scott T drove his truck down the ramp and broke the ice up into smaller sheets and I spent the next couple hours in waders shifting them thru the small channel. I then dropped my little tin can in with only the electric on it. I drove the bow up onto the sheets and drove the ice chunks out of the marina or off to the North edge in between the slips to melt. My boat is only a 14 foot aluminum but by next weekend the big dogs should be able to launch with ease. There is only one lane open right now but with the warmer temps it will not be long till all are open. The bubblers are really melting the ice down quick. Water is a good 5 feet in the channel as well.

I did get to fish for a bit and got a nice native cutt to the boat. Sorry no pic I was alone and did not have my camera.

How hard was it to break up that ice and move it aside, did you use a paddle or something else? It looks like the overnight temps are still freezing up there, so there is a real chance it will freeze again by the weekend. Thanks for the info Pat.
