Lindon Harbor &UT Lake
#1
Well FB2 and I headed to Lindon Harbor this morning. Tune up cruise for the ole fish tub. We thought we would test run the boat before Powell spring break bash. So I went over everything carefully, bait-yes, rods-yes, reel-yes, jigs-more than you can shake a stick at, check the oil, fuel the tub, and don't forget the tires. That turned into a not so quick trip to Big O.

But now we are on the road heading to Ut Lake. Pay our 5 bucks (soon to be 10) get a promising report from the atendant and we're to the ramp.
After sitting all winter wasn't sure how the old gal was going to act, but she fired right up and we were off to try our luck. The lake was smooth as glass most of the day and the fishin was great, the catchin a bit slow 1, 4 and half pound carp was all we could manage. But that was on my ultra light and man was it fun. The big bummer of the day, after all that careful planning and rechecking and standing around saying "have i forgotten anything" I left the sonar on my desk! Ut lake is no place to be with out a sonar. Well FB2 is at the helm and doing a fine job he is. Then he runs over a carp I look back and we have a mud trail behind us. Haven't any idea how long we had been churning up the bottom of the lake. We slow down raise the motor a bit and head for deeper water. We tried for the eyes at linclon beach no luck but that is where the carp hit a white curly tail jig. While fighting the carp we grounded the boat on a huge boulder. FB2 and I fliped coins to see who was pulling the boat off LOL. Thanks for the tow FB2! Water was only 10 inches deep right there. Man was I missing that sonar! Well we head back over to Lindon with a quick stop at Bird Island, had a couple of light taps but no hook-ups.
It was a grest day to be on the water, the boat ran great, FB2 was in rare form.. Think we are going to go and do it again tomorrow only this time try and do a little more fiahing and less sight seeing.

Road,

On friday, I was actually thinking of going to Utah Lake, but when I was coming home from work at 10 pm, the clouds have cleared, I noticed a huge beautiful full moon... my very thoughts were of walleyes and how they would be dining full table fare under the full moon. I immediately thought that Utah Lake would be dang slow the next day as long there's a full moon, those walleyes would be stuffed. They would be reticent to take a bite during the day. It's a bummer that you didn't get some eyes. Road, you just confirmed my suspicion of those walleye activity the night before.

I did notice it was a beautiful day on the lake as I drove to work around 2 pm today. I think I will wait for the moon to diminish abit, then it would be a good time to score walleyes when they feel the hunger pangs...

Sonar is a must for a boat on Utah Lake especially around Lincoln and Bird island. It is scary without the sonar and you want to protect your prop. I hate it when the water is low near the shoreline and you see the mud trail churning up by your prop... yikes![:/]

Thanks for the report dude!

I sorted suspected that also Paul. I have a fishing chart, it goes by lunar and tides and has been pretty right on over the years. But that doesn't stop me, time with the son (at 17) is worth more than the fishng right now. And its a BIG OLE moon tonight too!
