Rockport Fly Fishing Report in My new Fish Cat
#1
I've always wanted to try a fly or two near the inlet, but it's kinda difficult with a pontoon boat, so I bought a fish cat float tube this weekend.

Launched near the inlet around 11 am and fished till 5 pm. I was quite perplexed being that I slayed the trout in this area on the ice, but only caught 4 fish fly fishing out in my tube.

One highlight I had, I caught what looked like a lake trout or tiger trout, and also caught a carp and a sucker.

Anyway, are any of you BFTers fly fishing gooroos on what flies to use Rockport or maybe a better area than the inlet.??? The few I hooked were caught on a red/black leech on number 2 sinking line. See ya

I have found the trout are still in deeper warmer water this time of the year. I like to use a type 4 or 5 fast sink line that will get down deep quickly. I like to use an olive green wooley flash bugger, and strip it in a little slower than I do in warmer weather. I don't use a bead head when the water temps are under 50*. Try putting anchovy smelly jelly on the fly.
