[cool]I decided to try fishing gypsum piont after reading Baysport's report. Though I don't have a boat,I went out in my floattube. My wife was shore fishing as I went out. We started about 6:45pm and quit about 8:30pm. I was using a 3" storm pearl swimbait. My first fish was a 2lb largemouth. So I cast to the shore a few more times and got another at 1.5lbs. I continued casting for awhile til my first striper hit. He was about 12" long. Then I had alot of fish start boiling all around me. This was a wild scene! I cast to edge of the boil and immediatly got slammed but he came unhooked. The next cast was another hookup and this stuck; a nice 2lber. It started to get dark, so as I made my way back I got another striper at about 1lb. Unfortunately my wife did not connect. She says next time she will join me in her tube.

Guess I'll have to launch the tube out by Gypsum tomarrow afternoon. I was gonna go out to Mead anyways, this gives me a starting point anyhow. Thanks for the report.

Don't you just love it? Las Vegas Wash is just full of small stripers that boil almost every night. Last Friday night, 07/15/05, I got into a group of small stripers on and off for about forty minutes. They where boiling on the point of land on the east side of the entrance of Gypsum Wash. There is a submerged rock in between the point and a small island that was loaded with small shad. The small stripers would boil around this submerged rock. You can get a boat around it if you are real careful. The wind was pretty strong that evening so I spent equal time absorbed in keeping my boat off the rock and shore as I did tossing the small pencil popper into the boil. The result was a fine mess of small fish and a boat that never struck bottom. Hope the wind and water is calm on Tuesday when I get to do it again!
