Deer Creek
#1
Tried Deer Creek yesterday with two fishing buddies. Had a great time. Fishing was good trolling rapalas and spoons. Arrived DC at about 7:45 am and fished until about 3 pm. Fished all over the reservoir. We caught fish all over, but the best fishing and the largest fish caught were southwest of the island. We caught lots of small trout. They must have been planted fairly recently. Most of the fish we caught were on a #5 black/gold rapala. Spoons with gold were also good.

Hi Ken. You know my weakness. I saw a few fish right on the bottom that I thought might be walleye. I also asked the Fish and Game person at DC if any walleye were being caught, but I wasn't sure how to fish for those eyes this time of year. Thanks for the information. We need to get out fishing again soon.

[cool][#0000ff]Good to see ya on the board Lloyd. This is the time of year when the hatchery pets can at least provide some action for almost anyone. Too bad the walleyes aren't as plentiful...or as willing.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Have you tried Utah Lake this fall? I think the weather of this coming weekend may be a motivator for the toothy critters at Lincoln Beach. I'm torn between a return trip to Yuba and an exploratory at LB. They just haven't gotten "happy" yet this fall.[/#0000ff]

Pat,
Thank for the tip. I have been trying to figure out when the walleye are going to be active again at Utah Lake. There should be some good fishing there before too long.
I have been so busy moving from one house to another this Fall, AND getting ready to take another group of students to New Zealand in January, that I have just not picked up a fishing rod for a long time---tooo long of a time!
I haven't even had time to read about the fishing trips of others--way out of touch!
I am going to try to get out to Utah Lake myself next week. Thanks again for the information.

[#ff4040]I'm kinda in the same boat as you Pat. Don't know if I should head down to Yuba or start exploring LB. Maybe this weather will help me make my decision.[/#ff4040]

[cool][#0000ff]Can't take the Utah winters so you are going to "summer" in New Zealand again, huh? Hope you get in some more fishing this time.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you haven't been checking in regularly, you might like to glean through our recent post about a Utah Lake walleye seminar we planned. It was "weathered out", but we did post up some pics and info you might find useful.[/#0000ff]
