[font "Comic Sans MS"][black][size 3]Man, to fish a rod that long you'll need, at a minimum, a three man shelter like the Quickflip III. It's hard to fish a shelter with a long rod and make good hook sets without banging the top of the shelter. Problem with a shelter that size is its a pain to haul around unless you have a snowmobile.[/size][/black][/font]

Hay fishley did you kill a big deer? Has the fishing been good? Who is the boy? I took a old dome tent and cut a few big holes in the bottom it works good so long as the wind is not blowing kinda hard to see in it .

If you would stop doing illegal things then you wouldn't worry about what people see!!

I assure you that in Fishley case its not because he's doing "illegal Things" while fishing. Its because he dont want every Tom, Dick and Harry to seeing and learn his secrets. He's has spend countless hours learning what he knows about Maccin' and I dont blame him in the least for wanting to protect what he knows from the wannabies not willing to put in the time and effort to learn it for themselves..

LOL, there ya go!! How bout outfiter's tent? Of course Ash ol' buddy you'll have to break down and buy a ride to drag it all on the ice. And, you can forget about those fast hop, chips and jumps to a new location. We'll be able to track you down in a heart beat and peak through the windows! [Tongue]

Hey fishley,

Good idea !

A few years back, I fished with a guy I knew that bought a tent at the local thrift store for about 5 bucks. It was one of the family cabin type tents made out of nylon or whatever that material was - it weighed about 15/20 lbs - including the aluminum poles. It had over 6'6'' of head room and was about 10'X10' square. He cut out almost all of the floor - all but about 1' around the edges where he piled up snow and ice to keep out the wind. He drilled holes around the tent and put some guy ropes to anchor it to some wooden stakes he put in the holes he drilled in the ice with a portable rechargable drill - the stakes were flush with the surface of the ice and froze solid in the holes in a matter of a couple of minutes.

He hauled the whole shooting match on a pair of old skis hooked together with a couple of pieces of 2X4 to that made a sled. The only draw back was it took about 10-15 minutes to put up - but it was sure nice inside being out of the blizzard. Oh yea, he also had some lawn chairs and a latern and a small gas camp stove in there and cooked up bratwurst. When it was time to leave, he just left took the tent down and left the wooden stakes frozen in the ice.

A white outfitters tent would be camo on the snow covered ice. And you'll never find him. I ran back to the truck for something, he might not find his way back. lol

I would like to make it to the Gorge next weekend. I am going to see what Jared is up to. I would also love to hit the gorge through the ice. I love ice fishing and would love to try for a big mac through the ice. Hopefully we'll get enough ice up there this season and I will come begging for you to take me up and show me the ways.

p.s. I knew you weren't doing anything illegal fishing-wise. I just was worried about too much drinking and lack of clothing.[Tongue][Tongue]

Ol' buddy, the trick then is to make sure I'm 3 sheets to the wind before you are [Wink]

BFR. That could be the case. We've been know to wander the hard top while one was blind and the other mildly crippled. [laugh]
