Strawberry for the Weekend
#1
All,

We (JMIG,BEAN and I) are going to the berry Sat. I hear Chicken Creek west is fishing best in 18-24ft of water. Anybody hear anything else? Tube jigs white with red head seemed best according to my contacts. I plan on using a white water cricket with white head and a meal worm with a pale pink jig head dropper with the IFG's not so secret berry bait, frozen (thawed) uncooked popcorn shrimp. I'll post a report Sat night when we get back. I predict no matter where you fish this weekend the hot bite will be between 12:50 and 13:40, with the obvious exception of dusk and dawn. Lets all go fishing to see if I'm right.

While you are up there, do me a favor and see if anyones on chicken creek east. Thats my favorite. I have some spots over there I am dying to fish, but havent heard if its safe ice yet. The last two times I was up there, no body was brave enough to fish them.

Hey Predator

I was at the berry last weekend and the both parking lots at chicken creek east were almost full. So the must be safe. We fished past the ladders as a group activity. The fishing was slow. We didnt catch many after lunch. The ice was around 4 inches. Some spots were slushy. There was around 4 inches of snow also. My brother caught the most with 7 for the day, and lost a few. I caught the biggest at 21 inches. We let everything go. The sun was out for a while and warmed up a little, but most of the day it was below freezing. We used mostly tube jigs. The strikes came while we were jigging. White was the best color, with a meal worm and scent. We also moved around a bit. The fish finder showed a lot of fish moving around in the morning. I hope you have a good time. Wiper 24
