East Canyon Questions for Saturday
#1
I'm headed up with my scouts to the klondike durby at East Canyon this friday - saturday and was just wondering about the conditions. I will be staying in the campground at the southern end, Big rock campground or something similar. I will be fishing saturday moring and I was just wondering about the ice thickness on that southern tip of the reservoir. I will have to walk to where ever I fish so hopefully it's not too far. if there is no good ice that far south how far would would I have to go to get to it? don't want to fall through because I'll be fishing alone. any other tips or suggestions would be great. Also if any of you BFT members are going to be there what radio chanal would you use. I'll come say hi. thanks for all the help!

I may be up there on Saturday. I have not fished at EC yet so I can't help you much. BFT uses FSR channel 12 and alternate channel 7. I will be going to the boat ramp area it it has safe ice. I will also be watching for others to post helpful information.

I've been fishing the Taylor Hollow area for the last month or so and the Ice is 8 to 10". They have been doing very well farther south by the boeys also. I'm not sure how much snow is on top after the last storm however. Caught most fish in 25 to 35 feet of water. Rainbows averaging 16-20 inches on boggers, whatta crickets, tipped with wax worms. Enjoy the Klondike, it should be plenty cold.
