Great question! Now is as good of time as any. The challenge is getting to the fish. If you read BearLakeFishGuys report the marina is still iced in. Launching on the East side is an option but watch the wind. The East side does not have a break water to get out of the waves and wind. There are lots of spawns that happen in the first few months of the year. It starts with the cisco, whitefish, scalpin, cutts and through to the mix the cub, suckers, carp. You may find Macks in any depth of water this time of year because of the smaller fish and the eggs from the spawns, but they are mainly a deep water fish. I hope that help some. I know lots of other folks will have much better info on what to use and when than I do so keep watch the boards. Another great help is to read some of the post on the Bear Lake archives site. Good Luck!
