I am heading up the Berry tomorrow, and was wondering the best way to combat the slush. We will be over in the mosquito bay area not too far from the shore. I don't have snow shoes so I was wondering if there are any other good ideas out there. Would breathable waders be worth it? Any Ideas? I didn't think I was going to hit the hard deck anymore this year, but it is gong to be too nice of a day to pass up. Oh yeah, one more thing, I broke the screw hole brackets off my tranducer. Would it be ok to use duct tape cautously to tape to a piece of pvc or something? I need a way to attach it to something. Any ideas on this also? Thanks

[#0000ff]Seriously, lots of guys put GOOD plastic bags over their socks before getting into the boots. But, others do use stockingfoot waders, as long as they will fit down inside the boots. Getting wet feet is the fastest way to ruin a good day on the ice.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]About the transducer, as long as you did not crack the transducer housing you should be able to secure it to a piece of PVC, a shaft from a golf club or a wooden dowel with good ol' duct tape or whatever else works. Just be sure that you do not cover the bottom part of the transducer, through which the sonar beam is transmitted.[/#0000ff]

Thanks tubedude and bigcat for the info. This will help. We are going to try mosquito bay, but if there are not walking tracks or snowmobile tracks we will make alternate plans. Although we have walked through some pretty deep snow the last few times, but it will be a lot softer now. I just need to fork out some money for some snow shoes. I will post a report when we get back.
