When I'm fishing for bass in local lakes and canals I like to use a lighter lb test fishing line because its easier to cast my favorite lures and works better....I have had a devil of a time however tying my lures and hooks though. I never have any trouble at all with heavier lb test lines like 12 lb test or heavier....but I seem to break my knots very easily when tying lures with my 8 lb test line. It takes me a good 6 or 7 attempts at tying a knot to finally get one that feels like it will hold when fish bites.
Im using the loop and tie once then loop several times and ties on top of that method and it has worked for me for ALL my saltwater adventures or times when using heavier lb test line...anyone have some suggestions??

Bigniner19, if you scroll down on this page. DDR has a post on Animated knot tying. Try the Palomar knot it has worked well for me Bass fishing useing 8-10lb braided line. May be tough for mono on a small eye.

[black]Hey BigNiner19,
Welcome aboard to BFT !
I use lighter Mono lines(4-8lb) for most of my fishing. There are several knots that work well for lures. Some of them are all-purpose and work in many situations, other knots work best in specific situations.
Here is a web site that details the process of tieing them :
For animated knot web site link - [/black][black]Click Here[/black][black]
After you review the knots, go ahead and ask any questions you have about them. Also, when you do ask, give the specific type and size of lure(this can make a difference) - that will help with answering any questions.[/black]

The Palomar know should be strong enough for your needs. I also use the Trilene knot. Both are very strong.[cool]

the polamar knot is good, but a pain to tie. (especially on smaller eyelets) if youre using monofiliment line id tie an improved cinch knot. very easy, and dependable. good luck to ya!
