weakfish jig
#1
High Guys, I was buying an anchore, lost mine in Rockaway Reef, at the marine and saw this jig, a 1 oz and 1and a half oz. white or yellow bucktail with silver in it it had hair pointing foward and back, like a parachute jig, and a long rubber curly tail,It's called a Hydro Jig by Carolina Jigs, I think?
I came back from flukig and the birds were working around my marina, so i made my girlfriend clean the boat i tried it out. On the third cast I had a 5lb weakfish few more casts and a couple of more with one going to 6.4 lbs (my biggest yet!)
After she was done cleaning she tried and only got one and quit! a 7.6 lber!!!! She made fun of me all the way home! TIGHT LINES,TIM

What can I say Tim! ... The legendary bucktail jig produces more fish once again. My allround, pick of the tackle box, go anywhere, catch anything, lure of choice... Jerry V makes a few comments about bucktails and soft plastics in a thread down below as well.

The "favourite jig or lure" post I think is where those comments are located. . When you find a 1 or 1.5 oz white head jig with a pink bucktail collar then let me know.

Then you will really get onto the weakfish!

Burnin Thumbs!

Steve - The MJB
BFT Lures/Baits
http://www.demonjigs.com

Hi Steve, I bought 2 dozen Smilelin bill jig heads and 2 doz. pointy head jigs and tied my own up. I used white with that shinneystuff(forgot the name) and PINK with shine, they both produced we'll last fall by the inlet bridges and i'll be trying them around fall here. I used to buy them done, but it costs a third to make them and you get exactly what you want, plus I did it during the long winter! TIGHTLIES,TIM

No worries Tim

Either way, they are definately the right colours. The shiney stuff could be any number of products. As long as it has some glitz that will do the job fine..

What kind of hooks are in those jig heads do you know? I imagine they are forged. If not, then don't tackle anything with size.

Burnin Thumbs!

Steve - The MJB
BFT Lures/Baits
http://www.demonjigs.com

High Steve, I'm not sure what kind of hooks the jigs come with, i lost the catologe that i got them from, but they are a 6/0 in the bills and 7/0 in the other. As for strenght I caught plenty of over 30lb bass last fall with no hook problems, and no rust to-date!
As for the shinny stuff, it's a must here!
TIGHT LIES,TIM

No worries Tim

Good stuff... Those hooks sound like their up to the job if 30 lb Bass are being caught. Imagine they would be forged as well to take that kind of fish.

As for that 7.6 lb weakfish, sounds like you might be hearing about that one for a while yet hey?

Burnin Thumbs!

Steve - The MJB
BFT Lures/Baits
http://www.demonjigs.com
