What's new for you this ice season?

[black]I'd like to add an underwater camera to my list of accoutrements need to tackle the ice. I've always been amazed when watching those things. IFG bought one last year and it was a lot of fun.[/black]

[black]Ditto on that underwater camera. I was with Kentofnsl last year on strawberry and got to look at his - all I ever saw though was a crawdad poking around. But it was way cool ![/black]

[black]This year for me, I'm hoping to use that auger you sold me last year a little more - I've only used it like 4 times so far(and it's a nice little unit). I got me some new blades for it and I'm anxious to give them a go - Last year TubeDude sharpened the old ones for me, but, on my last outing, I think I dinged them up beyond just resharpening them again.[/black]

I'd like to add an ice-maker with a freshwater hook-up to my boat so I won't have to carry bags of ice down to the dock every morning and evening to keep the shrimp, fresh grouper, and drinks cold. [laugh]

FGM: I have a Seaview camera I'll sell you if you're looking. We can "field test" it when you're here in Dec. if you want.

[black]One of these years I'll have to shell out the dough and come visit you in the Keys and see what all this tarpon nonsense is all about![/black]

I'm excited to give my new fish finder a try on the ice. I am predicting that it will help tremendously to know where the fish are holding and to know whether or not they are approaching my offering. It will also be nice to have a setup that is compact and ready to go, rather than having to go through so much effort to get everything setup like I have in the past. Also, I can hardly wait for January 1st! Two rods being allowed everywhere! You will definitely find me out on the ice before the sun hits the ice on New Years Day!

I got a new quad that might hit the ice, but probably won't due to the snowmobile... hoping to upgrade my shelter anyday now.

Will probably sell my Jet Sled/Shappelle DX3000 combo if anyone is interested before I post it For Sale (w/in the next couple of weeks). If so, PM me.

I am looking to tie some new ice flies. Actually, I have only tied my "summer" flies in the past. I have had luck fishing wooly bugger patters through the ice in past, and would like to tie some on 1/32 oz. jig bodies. May purchase a reel or 2?????

Oh, I am also looking to buy a new ice hut. My 13 year old hut has just about had it!

If you target any panfish try tying some up on 1/60-1/100 ounce jigs in brown and orange and try tipping them with maggots. I did this last winter on numerous lakes and caught perch, crappie, bass, bluegill and trout consistently on them. There were many days last year where they outfished everything else I tried 10 to 1. I tied them up wity very tiny feathers and not much of a body just mostly a tail hanging. Give them a try and see what you think.

My son-in-law received a DVD in the mail from In-Fisherman that had some "new" technology and equipment for ice fishers. Some was pretty interesting. In fact, the 35 minute advertisement was quite good to watch. A couple of the URL's that would show the gear include:

Too many toys, not enough budget!

[cool]I got that one in the mail too the other day, but haven't watched it yet. I think I'll check it out tonight. LOVE In-Fisherman. I learned a lot of practical fishing knowledge from that magazine...

Hey Rich, Your going to spend all of your time looking at the camera while everyone else catches the fish.[cool][cool]
Hopefully this year I can spend more time ice fishing with the new ice Cut'r. Last year I was too busy making lures.
Good luck and good fishing to all!

[black]You are probably right. I hear that same thing from everyone who owns one too! When you're ready to hit the ice and try those cut'rs out, let me know. I'll head out with you.[/black]
