Pontoon storage and transport?
#1
Hey all:
I've got an ODC sport 'toon. Currently I've got the 'toons and pump in a duffel bag, but i'm stumped on the frame. It breaks down but the sides are huge, as well as the seat.
I'm moving in 2 months, and need a solution both for the move as well as for transport to fishing holes. Another duffel would work for me if its big enough to at least hold the frame pieces, but preferably the entire shebang.
thoughts?

I just found this

30x50 side zipper duffel. I'll bet it will work, and if not, I've got all kinds of other crap to jam into it.

[black][size 3]Hey Jason,[/size][/black]
[black][size 3][/size][/black]
[black][size 3]Try Recreation outlet on State street right across from Kirhams - they have some huge ones. I bought one a couple of years ago for my toon - it was about 15 bucks. [/size][/black]

[black][size 3]Also, you could try General Army Navy on Redwood road - they had some big ones a long time ago.[/size][/black]

[b]Creek Company makes a bag for their toons. You might check their website. Here's the URL:

I assume it would carry the frame, too.

The measurements seemed fishy to me, I'll call them on monday to see if the whole thing fits. I ordered a big-ass-duffel bag, and if that don't work I'll likely try the creek company bag.

[cool][#0000ff]I'm sure you have already measured the components, to figure out just how large a bag you'll need. Once you know the outside dimensions you should be able to go shopping.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The Recreation Outlet suggested already is a good place for good prices on lots of goodies. Another place to look for a great assortment of bags...in all sizes...is the Army/Navy surplus place on South Redwood Rd, about 4900 south.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you just need something to pack for moving, do some dumpster diving for big boxes. If you can't find something that fits exactly, do some cutting and fitting and taping to make a "custom" box.[/#0000ff]

[#505000]I can't speak for your patience level, but I got really tired of breaking down my toon after each trip and assembling it before each trip. I also don't have a truck or trailer so I transported it in the trunk of my car. After the assemble, unassemble bull plop I dealt with the first year, I shelled out a couple of hundred dollars and installed a Thule rack on top of my car (just the two parallel bars nothing fancy, just enough to keep it off the paint and give me tie down points.). With a couple of tie downs on the front of the toon, and a couple more to secure it to the rack I just leave it inflated and in one piece to transport it around anymore. Saves me a lot of time, gets me in the water faster, off the water quicker, and has allowed me to make some "permanent" modifications to my toon I couldn't do as easily with the break down method.[/#505000]

[#505000]Somewhere on Tubedude's enomous hard drive (160gigs of shameless fish porn I dare say!!) is a picture of my set up. [cool] If I had a clue where to find the original post I would link it![/#505000]

My car has a rack (performancebike.com), and my wife's SUV has a factory rack. I don't mind the tear down/put together process. I primarily like to be able to store it without much muss or fuss, and to be able to transport it longer distances without worrying about it flying off the top of my car. Next year, I'll be buying a truck anyways
