Huntington Report
#1
Fished Huntington to day with 2 friends. Ice was safe, areas of snow and slush, areas of mainly ice. Between the 3 of us we caught 100+ fish. Nothing close to the 18"-20" range, but lots of fun just the same! For the sake of those complaining about BFTers that benefited from their postings without posting additional information, They were biting on about everything, white jigs with wax worms were the best, but charturese, meal worms, night crawlers worked great also. We were in 30' of water, fish all over between 15' and the bottom. Marked multiple fish all day long. The bite was the fastest in the morning, slowing around noon (by slow, I mean we only caught 11 fish between 12:30 and 1:00 p.m.). For those not complaining and who have posted previously, I have greatly benefitted from your information, I thank you. Thank you for the information from augers & scents to where to take the scouts for the weekend! Lets keep sharing information and having fun together rather than worry about others infringing on our fun!

thanks for the report... and just a comment... I only have about 30 posts and have been a member since last summer and I have found two reasons that I dont post all that often... although this is my main website for fishing information and I read these posts almost daily, the posts usually fall into two types, #1 I already know that information and dont feel any need to comment... #2 it is information I dont neccesarily care about, for example the bear lake information is great but I dont plan on taking any trips to bear lake anytime soon. When I have had a topic that I care about I have commented or asked questions and i believe that I have been an asset to the board (however small ).. I am one of the guys they are talking about not allowing in becuase I dont have enough posts... just a thought

I also agree,I used to post a lot more years ago when their were not as many members, now why post my trip to Strawberry along with a bunch more reports that are the same-"the fishing is great".Some members must feel they have to post something every day.Just my opinion

Thanks for the information Icerman.
I will be fishing Huntington on Monday and I was hoping for an accurate report.
For what it is worth, I don't think that any of you guys that have responded to this post are the type of people that are being questioned.
This is an open forum and will stay that way, but there are people that take a lot of very good information from this site and then won't share their good fishing trips with others.
It would be great if these people could be kept away from the informitave posts, but that won't happen here.
The best we can do is to still help each other and hope that the others will follow.

I hope that is the case... I certainly understand the argument of making sure that everyone is sharing not just taking information... I guess I would be in favor of some kind of minimum posts but in a little different way.... I would not limit people by the number of posts. but it would be nice to set it up so that if you did not post every three months it would limit what you could see... that way you would be required to be a part of the board but would not limit you if you dont have 200 posts a year or some other arbitrary number

[black]Have I missed something? I thought this issue about "restricted" boards was cleared up days ago and there are several of you still worried about it? [/black]
[black][/black]
[black]Here's the entire discussion in it's entirety.[/black] [#333366]I have a bad idea[/#333366]

[black]Just for those who haven't been keeping up, I will repeat what has already been discussed in depth and EXTREME excess. There will be no restricted boards on BFT. Period. Can we now get past this issue?[/black]

Well I can't seem to figure out how to quote somebody and get what I typed to show up so I will reply to my own post that has a quote from someone else. If you guys wanting to limit views to posts to people that only make fishing report type posts at least once every 3 months that will leave a lot of people like myself in the military out. We are deployed from 4-12 months a time away from family, friends and fishing so can't give any good fishing reports. I know for myself getting on here and checking the reports of success or lack there of is something that keeps me going. I think the idiots and winers that want to limit the ability to others to see posts need to just create their own site and leave the BS off this site, so the friendly fisherman can just enjoy the site. good point... I agree with you completely.. the argument on a previous post, in case you missed it, was to limit the board to people that contributed on a regular basis which I thought was a bad idea... I do agree that it does suck that a lot of people get on the board and find out where and how to fish and never participate in the board.. my point was if you were going to limit the board, which a lot of people have been suggesting, limit it by saying that anyone that does not sign up cannot see certain posts.. and anyone that does not post at all have a certain time period to do so or there membership expires... I honestly dont have a problem with people taking my fishing trips and experiences and learning from them but some people do and I am hoping to not have the board limited like it is being suggested...

Bear Lake Mac... thanks for the info... I actualy did not see the last part of that post becuase it annoyed me so much.. just so you know there are people messaging other people in an effort to get some momentum behind the limited post idea...

[cool][#0000ff]I repeat...IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN. There will be no exclusionary board set up for Utah BFT. Let everyone who wants to send PM's in favor go ahead and waste their time and energy. IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]You are right on target. If someone does not like our little playroom, let them set up and moderate their own site. But, they better have the following and the "horsepower" to keep it running and to provide the depth of info and experience we have accumulated on this site.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Just so's ya know, Utah is only BFT board that DOES exclude non members from posting. That was because of all the "hit and run" artists that started popping in and popping off, just to start something, without contributing. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]But, we are sensitive to the fact that in addition to the "lurkers" who stop in only to take what they can there are lots of folks that are "computer challenged" or who do not want to post anything for fear of being ridiculed. Some have had bad experiences elsewhere and it takes awhile for them to become comfortable enough to join up. I know. I get lots of PMs from folks who have just joined, or who have joined but are still not posting.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Weighing the upside against the potential downside(s), we would rather serve the silent masses who need us than to exclude them along with the parasitic lurkers.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The last thing we want to do is penalize those who do not ge to go fishing often...or who do not care to post every detail of every trip, just for their own glory. We have plenty of those. If anything, we should maybe set up a special forum for hyper-egos and icon-conscious post counters.[/#0000ff]

Maybe I will luck out and make it back in time this year we can hit the ice again. I know it won't happen on here but tired of the BS related to it. Good luck on the ice this winter and save some perch for me.
