Well we hit the nell at 8:20 and there was light wind the water temp was 36.4 the main boat ramp was iced over and the north end was capped....

We headed up the Rock cliff arm to see how far the ice was, The ice has grown some it is out to where the water depth is 20 to 22 feet deep we found fish in 24+ feet of water....

We used Gulp minnows on a MOJO drop shot and boated over 40 fish rain bows and browns ......

When we left the wind had white caps on the main lake and the ice on the north end was gone we left at 12:30 the water temp was 36.2 .....

Thanks for the report Clifford. That ice cap is sure growing painfully slow this year (or perhaps I am just more impatient as I get older). With the forecasted even colder temperatures it shouldn't be long before we have some deep water up there covered with safe ice.

When we was by the ice edge in rock cliff arm the ice it would make its loud sounds and the fish would move out in deeper water away from the ice for a wile but move back slow to the ice, last year the main body of the nell stayed open till a cold snap in Feb. this year it mite freeze sooner....
