East Canyon
#1
Hit East Canyon on Saturday with my 5 year old. Ton of people on the ice. Very slow fishing but we did manage a limit- in all we caught 8 rainbows (did not keep 8). Few were 15 inches or so and the rest were planters. One was full of the little crappie, he had a huge gut.
We were in 32 feet of water using ice flys tipped with powerbait. I could not get them to hit anything else. Missed 2 hits for every one I caught- the little ones were very hard to hook.
Very nice to get out of the smog and see the sun again!

I've fished E Canyon alot this winter and found the best rig to be just a size 10 or 12 salmon egg hook about a foot below your sinker.25-30 feet of water has been the best depth's for my success.Also...I don't use a large ball of powerbait on the egg hook,it seems the less gawdiness for them to look at the more bites I get.Rainbow glitter powerbait has caught the most for me and I've caught quite a few nice hogs this year.Just my 2 cents worth!
