A Sad Day In Kentucky
#1
I finally got the money saved to get my pink fishing pole that i looked EVERYWHERE for. Then last night on the way home from work i got stuck on I-65 in a hail storm. Baseball size hail. It busted out my windshield and destroyed my car with me setting in it. There is a 250.00 deductible on my insurance which is exactly what i had saved for my pink rod. This is a truly Sad day. Time to start saving again.[Sad]

That really sucks fishergirl, sounds like you've had some really bad luck. Atleast you didn't have a high deductable. Alot of people have thiers set at 500 so the payment is lower. You still have a fishing rod and reel to use right now don't you? There's nothing Sadder than an angler with out a way to fish. [Sad]

[black][size 3]That really BITES. Where are those overpasses when you need one.[/size][/black]
[black][size 3]I was at the Lodge last year with my NEWER SUV and it started hailing (not as big as you described). It freaked me out so bad, I threw the blanket I always carry over my windshield and then I laid over the hood like a mother hen[crazy]. I have on my wading gear and Jacket so it didn't hurt much and I will heal.[pirate][laugh][/size][/black]

Sure................... Captain Dicks Marina out of Murrells Inlet (Myrtle Beach area) is a great place to go. Infact, I have a close friend that captains one of thier boats. If you can give me about 3 weeks of notice, i'd be happy to take you out myself. [Smile]

I've always extended that offer to any and all BFT members, you're no exception. I'd love to have you aboard! We can work something out with splitting the expenses I.E. gas, bait, etc.... It won't be much. My boat is cheap to run.

Shoot me a PM anytime

hey, ive been through a kentucky hail storm... this isnt the kind of hail you want to be lying out in. (despite thick clothing)

i was in lebanon kentucky about 5 years ago when a series of tornadoes and hail storms wrecked central kentucky. my car was totalled, and the whole town was messed up. luckily the tornadoes missed us, but the hail ruined any exposed cars, everyones roofs... and a lot of windows. we had dents over our new car and a broken windshield. we also had a broken front window, missing siding, and a lot of missing shingles!

keep saving for that pole! you'll get there!

[size 1]yeah, it was 2002 in the spring i believe. luckily for us the tornadoes kind of missed us... but, we did get a huge hailstorm. im back in utah now, where im from, and ive never seen weather like that in my life! i was indoors and thinking about what was happening to my new car... which was parked a couple miles away. it was hard to look at that beat up car! but, it wasnt so bad becuase other people did get it worse and i felt bad for them!

anyways, hope you get that pole soon! [/size]

I was sitting where I am now playing poker with ssor and troy and a few others when those stroms rolled though, they went up and kicked ssor out of the poker game for a few hours. lost a few other players for several days...

I was thier first aleart because they were on the net playin poker and I was watching the storms on the tv and jumping back and forth to noaa satelites. I remember there was a class 4 tornado went though down that way, by todays scale it would be a class 5 tornado...

they say god nevers gives us any more than we can handle... I wonder some times...

well now you can tell the story of how your pink rod ended up costing you 500.oo

one of the best things about ruff times are the stories you get to tell... base ball size hale, I never seen it much bigger than a pea my self, let alone be able to say I sat there in my car while these ice balls from the sky bombarded my car with me in it...

I mean, I know you were thinking something, and I know it wasnt the delay of being able to get you new pole, of corse it is healthy to put it in to perspective now all is said and done...

that had to be terrifying, did you hear rummbling or something like a freight train rolling down the tracks? Often when you get hail like that tornados are near by... or so I have witnessed from the news reports....

did you get hit by the ice balls? I mean did any get though the window and hit you? I would emagine when that stuff comes down like that there is no place to go.... and the last place you want to be is in an under pass, winds amplify under there....

Remember, Life is not the destination, its the journy.
