There's a book that is updated every year called "Utah fishing guide". It lists every species in every water in Utah. I have the 2000 version if you have any lakes in mind, let me know and i'll look it up for ya.

The DWR publish little booklets on the different drainages in the Uintahs. They tell about each lake- size, how to get there, fish, etc. You can get them at the bookstore at North Temple and Redwood as well as other locations. They are always a little out of date but still good information.

[#005000]You could drive right to the lake in a four wheeler before the storm, but they probably have a foot of snow by now......It's good though, because the lake is way down below the normal level for this time of year.[/#005000]

My family and I usually bow hunt that area, and have not seen her very full in the last couple of years. I was hoping this year would change that, but when you can drive to her in early June, that does not look good. Is the Bear flowing very high at this time?

Thanks for the info. We have a cabin near the head waters for the weber river. Whitney is just on the other side of Moffit Peak from us. The land is primarily owned by Thousand Peaks Ranch. I see really nice bucks every year, but its all private. Is the Whitney area hunted alot with bow/rifle? The rivers and lakes nearby are full of fish.

I have always just hunted deer with the bow. That is where I us to go to hunt elk as well. I have family with cabins in the Uinta Lands and that is who I hunt with usually. Yea it can get kinda tricky this are is open but that is closed and so-forth. My little Brother said in the last few years is that there have been more and more hunters and less deer (as usual). I was up there last year camping a little and saw a few good sized bull moose. I like that area.

Yeah Majja I here ya about the more people less deer. I bow hunt as well. I love the extended hunt. I have often thought about huntng up in that area around the boundaries of the Thousand Peaks Ranch. Some of the bucks I have seen on the ranch are beauties. What is the elk heard like in the Whitney area? I drew a management elk tag this year so I will be doin that. The Whitney area is any bull if I am not mistaken.

It was when I was hunting it. But to tell you the truth I have not t for probably 7-8 years. My cousin said they saw a few last year but not many at all. Seams there are a lot but seem to be holding up on 1000 peaks and 2 bear. Back when 2 bear was all Sportsmans hunting club it seamed like there was enough pressure that it would move the elk, but not any more. It seams going form a few hundred to 3 really does that.
