Start time was 6:30 and we headed up to the rivers end. First cast a 14" for me. Nice way to start a day. Bob got a 12" there ane I landed a pike of 20". [ Thought I had a lunker.] Fished down the right side till the wind made white caps, so we went to the other side of the culvert. Headed up towards the dam and fished the sandbar and landed another keeper. 20 mins till the end and I lost a keeper 10 ft from the boat. We ended up with a 4.95 bag and third place was 5.15 [Image: icon_evil.gif] Someday I may get some money out of these things. We did release 4 bass under 12" so it turned out to be one of our best times there. Rattletrap, sencos and cutterbugs brought the fish to the boat.

thats still a far cry better than taking first place and not being able to take home the prize...

I kinda got burnt on a bass tourny once, two man teams, $10 per team, and the rules said the bass had to be of leagle size and the tourny was timed. limit of 10 fish per team.

I was fishing out of a row boat with a 2.5 horse johnson against a dozen or so bass trackers.

we went out and covered less than one third of the lake and came in with 10 bass all ranging 2-3 pounds each. our weigh in was roughly 22.5 lbs. we timed our tour so we could get in 10 minutes early because we did not want to get thrown out for being late. We were the second boat in.

we had to wait for the last boat to come in half hour late and they allowed them to weigh in... I swear some one had to be radioing them the score so they could keep fishing untill they got bigger fish.

If I could have had that extra half hour I could have released a couple of the two pounders for a couple 3 pounders... that boat only beat us by a quarter of a pound...[Image: icon_evil.gif][Image: icon_evil.gif][Image: icon_evil.gif]

any way congrats, 3rd place is not something to sneeze at....

Dave it's not the placeing it's the cook out after. The winner had a canoe and a cooler with an air pump. I really don't go into it looking to win. Just to see some good fish at the end and BSing with other fishermen. Have to say it's the first time this year I payed to fish. I hear the blues are finally showing up.May Have to go salt next sat. with the Lund.

I went out today for about 6 hours,

I fished shallow and deap, could not buy a bite.

trout were jumping all over the place, to bad I didnt bring my fly rod,

I thought a couple of them were going to jump in the boat for me, had a couple closens.[Tongue]

some of them reached 4 feet out of the water, I didnt see any bugs flying, but it was pretty wendy today so any thing flying around would have been buzzin by a bit fast for me to see.

aside from the wind, it was a nice day, tho the dog kept wanting to come in.... unusual for her. I think I will be putting the boat away in the next few days, and start praying for ice... no hurry yet, just so long as it sets in by mid december...

I hear that, last year I didnt put the other one away till mid december and we didnt ice up here till I treatened to pull it back out in the third week of january.... We finaly go on the hard stuff the first week of feb....

I figured this year to get an early start, put the boat away now and threaten to pull it back out the second week of december...LOL....[Tongue]

If I had a heated garage, to store the boat in I might chance it, but when it turns cold here it turns over night and often with out notice regardless as to what the forcast is... I seen as much as 20 differance between the forcast and out side my window...[shocked]

last year the forcast was for 2 degrees, and the current temp they were calling for was 2 degrees and my thermomiter said -20 degrees, breaks on a rail road car in town froze up and derailed a train moving less than a mile an hour....[pirate] no one hurt, but it took 23 hours to get the road in town open again, It only took 15 minuts to drive around and come in on the other side of town...

the train that derailed was the "Star Clipper" the same train tom arnald married his second wife in some 15+ years ago... the guest on the train never even knew they derailed till they got off the train... Talk about your train recks rolling in slow motion...[sly] I was just Glad no one was hurt....
