It was a very bad day on the lake, we put the camera down and through out 6 hours we did not see one fish nor did we even have a bite and to top it off we had 3 older guys come out and fished about 15 feet away from us and they were getting drunk and being very loud so we moved after a while and still no luck. The ice is good and thick but there sure was a lot of slush on top of the ice so if you head up there wear boots that are fully water proof or else your feet will get very wet. But we still got to enjoy a little ice fishing and the mountain scenery.

I got out today for a couple hours this morning, things were a bit slow for me as well,

a high preasure system sat on top of us all day pusing snow to the north, we got drizzle all day.

I slipped and fell on my can, "no I wasnt wearing cleets.[crazy]

wet slick no snow cover uneven ice makes for a nasty walk with out cleets...

aside from falling on my can, I ended up with 5 keeper gills, dozens of released small gills and one 10 inch bass released...

things were on the slow side yesterday morning...

I will be going back out in a few minutes...

I am using millers "moth larve that invaded a box of oatmeal in my house"

good luck on your trip, let me know how you do, even if it is an empty bucket...

Thats good to hear, which lake are you fishing at? if you don't mind me asking. Are the gills you are catching have good size to them? I might go out on New Years day if I can find a spot.

I am fishing on pontiac lake here in south east michigan.

the gills I am catching are about 8 inches.. nothing special,

tomarow is the last day of bass season here, I think I will try to get out a bit early and get me one for dinner...

bass are faily taisty when caught in cold water... nothing to big, I am looking for something around 14-18 inches.. in the three pound class...

I want to make some bass mc-nuggets....[Tongue]

soak it is salt water over night then cut him in to 1 inch squares battered then deep fryd and have him for my supper new years day...[Tongue]

well we got a complete wash out on the ice... not a cube to spare for a rum and coke tumbler...

it has given me time I needed to finish my tipup...

I did not put a flag on it, and dont know if I realy want to, I wont be leaving it unattended so I should hear it when it goes off, when the fish strikes the set-arm slams in to the base. quite noisily might I add, enough to make my pup jump out of her bed and look around to see what fell....

Here is my first attempt at building a Slammer style tipup.. "used for salmon and walleye in the great lakes"

"sorry, I did not follow the directions. you can order a kit or one pre-assembled"

we are alowed two lines in michigan... except when trolling for salmon in cirtain areas we are alowed three.

the next one will be smaller, 1x3 insted of 1x4, Use what ya got is my motto...[blush]
