Driveabliity of Flaming Gorge

I wanted to go up to flaming gorge to do some fishing. What is the access to the lake like. I do not have a 4wd. I have access to one from my dad, but with the price of gas it would be nice to drive a smaller car up.

If I can drive a 2wd up, where should I fish?

I've noticed you have posted this same question twice. I was hoping one of the local guys would respond but since they haven't, I'll try and help. I don't know if you were planning on fishing on the Wyoming side or the Utah side but a lot of the good fishing is on the Wy side. If that is your plan you can get some good info on the BFT Wy site. You can also get some great info by using the search function toward the top of this page. Just type in Gorge and ice fishing and I'm sure you will get all the info your looking for and more. The guys that fish the Gorge a lot have posted the info you are requesting a number of times this winter, so that might explain why they did not respond.
All that being said, I will try and answer some of your questions. There are a lot of places you can fish at the Gorge, a couple of places that might be worth trying are: Lucerne bay that is on the Utah side and out in front of Buckboard marina that is in Wyoming. Both can be accessed with a 2wd car. You can catch rainbows close to shore(10 to 20 ft), macks in deeper water(60ft and deeper) and burbot in 20 to 60 ft but mainly at night. Like Wiperhunter stated, you can get to the marina areas easily(Buckboard, Lucerne) with a small car. If we get a storm, it can be a pain driving anywhere in Flaming Gorge country without 4-wheel drive to rely on (especially on the Wyoming side). Without a recent storm event, the roads are really good right now. If we get snow out of this system breezing by the next couple of days, the roads could become marginal. And near the Gorge, wind can be your biggest problem. A little wind in Utah, means a lot of wind in Wyoming, which drifts and ices roads shut all the time.

They've closed the I-80 corridor through Wyoming so many times this year, it's tough to depend on it too. If you're coming through Wyoming to get to the Gorge, check out the WYDOT website for updated road conditions and weather cameras. The site is:
