Does anyone have a Causey condition report. Is there still safe ice or has it turned to mush. Any info is appreciated.

Well, went to Causey today and my worries of unsafe ice were unfounded. The ice is still over 2 feet thick and edges are fine!! Got into the Kokes and it was fast an furious for about ten minutes. Limited quick and called another guy over and he limited as well. Finally got into them for the first time this year. The fish finder went black and they sure do fight nice. I imagine Causey will still be good for a couple of more weeks.

Wow, that is great news and here I thought ice fishing was over for the year. Was there any size to the kokes you caught? How deep was the water you were fishing in? Thanks for any info you can share. WH2

They were all between 14-15 and inches long and pretty chunky. Nice fish and cooked up great. I caught them in 18 feet of water about 20 feet off the bank. I was fishing in 45 feet for about 2 hours with nothing and decided to move in close just so I wouldn't get skunked. I caught about 6 or 7 tigers and splake then the Kokes moved in quick. I talked to anther group who had 8 or 9 Kokes from the morning and they were in about 25 feet of water. I really think it is just a case of being lucky enough to have then show up under your hole for a while.

Those are good sized kokes, most of the ones that people were catching this winter were around 10 or 11 inches. Were you fishing near the dam? It's a blast when the kokes move in like that, the catching sure can be fast and furious. WH2
