Reservoir Levels/Updates
#1
I have a very nice official website that some memebers may not be aware of. Go to http://www.usbr.gov/uc/ for Green River/Colorado River based reservoirs. And go to http://www.usbr.gov/uc/water/notice/snowpack.html for current snowpack averages and projections. These are both U.S. Bureau of Reclamation web sites. They give you meeting dates for operational dam changes, and such. They also provide projections for water levels for the close to one year in advance. They also provide current water level info. It is updated every 2-3 days, they even give the time. wayneswords.com also provides Lake Powell info, exclusively.[Smile]

Snotel updates daily off the measuring units in the mountains.

ftp://ftp.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/data/snow/update/ut.txt

If you change the ut in the address to id or co it will give the data for Idaho or Colorado.

For stream flow data http://waterdata.usgs.gov/id/nwis/current?type=flow again select the state.

and http://www.usbr.gov/uc/crsp/GetSiteInfo select the reservior and choose last 40 days graph and it will show the last 40 days of history. It allows you to read the inflow, storage and lake elevation in relation to full pool. Right now it says Flaming Gorge is 6021 elevation and full pool is 6040. Or the inflow into lake Powell is about 12000 cfs. Information that makes a fisherman want to stand up and cheer[cool]
