Quik mount rod holder
#1
I found this in the sprinkler section of the PVC dept. Thought I would pass it on. It mounts up easily and quickly on my toon's frame and can be used for rod holders or sonar screen holder.

Sorry I guess the pic's aren't loading yet.

[cool][#0000ff]Looks like a super idea for anyone who needs to mount something to a frame. It is easy install, with no drilling in the frame, and easy to move and adjust as needed.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Back in the "olden days", I had to do some plumbing repairs with galvanized pipe and they had something like that then. Good to see that they have brought it forward in PVC.[/#0000ff]

I believe it is used to add a riser into an existing sprinkler line. They are called [#0000ff]Kwikseal Saddle Tees-1 inch poly pipe x 1/2 inch [/#0000ff]

be careful the Saddle can snap so its sort of a weak point at the screw down section I use those and if they get screwed down to tight or when its cold they can snap so you might not like your rod swimming. Its a good product and and they do work good but I wouldn't use them to hold my rods They are intended for softer poly pipe and not needding to be pinched down to tight Be careful

Poky-mon does know his stuff on sprinklers. Been doing it most his adult life to as he said, please be careful and maybe leash your rods or poles, just in case.

That's a cool item, Michael. Given Poky-mon's cautions, I wonder if it's available in anything tougher than PVC.

[cool][#0000ff]I used to use similar fittings in galvanized. I am betting they are still available, and the threads will fit both galvanized and PVC, once you have the clamp in place.[/#0000ff]

if I might suggest .. we use to do emergency pipe patches in the Navy in a variety of ways.. one of which was to layer patches over a leak and then ulltimately seal it with a heavy piece of rubber material that was held in place by those screw down hose clamps.. I wonder if you could not get a piece of heavy rubber .. say like a dish drain mat or heavier.. cut a hole to size .. slip that over the top piece and then secure it in place with two hose clamps.. then trim the ends of the hose clamps if needed.. just a thought..

[cool][#0000ff]Using the screw down hose clamps is a good idea. I had forgotten that one of the pontoon setups I helped with include the use of those metal clamps for several applications. (See pic)[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]You can combine those with cutting a PVC fitting as shown in the attached pic, and then clamping it down wherever you want the holder mounted. Then, use the desired fittings and go for it. A 1" T or Cross will both work, but if you cut the Cross in half, you will have two attachments to use.[/#0000ff]

... lol.. I am not the original.. but maybe a good reminder every once in awhile... [sly]... what do you think about that piece of rubber matting over the piece that started this post.. it may protect it a little more.. the pieces you used look thicker and probably more durable to me..
