FLAMING GORGE REPORT
#1
Tough times at the Gorge this weekend. Started out with engine trouble and used the kicker motor to get around. Because of that and due to wind, I was not able to venture far from the marina. The fishing was good and wind wore us out fast. In all, we boated a total of seven fish and lost more. Plenty of action. 3 macks pups, 3 browns, and a rainbow. sorry no pictures. The fish finder graphed fish mainly in 20-60 feet of water. Water temp was 40. It really felt great to get out.

What part of the lake were you fishing? Can you tell me when the ice came off of the Buckboard area? Is the ice off on the entire lake now? How deep were you catching the browns? I'm considering a trip up there this weekend.

Thanks for the report!

We caught most of our fish using downriggers and plainer boards troling north[/u] of the marina. To my knowledge the ice came off about a week to two weeks ago. There is currently no ice. The deepest we caught a brown was about 45 feet and shallowest at about 20. Good luck.

It is too bad that you only choice was the kicker motor, especially with the wind. But, on a positive note, it just shows that you don't need to venture out too far to get some wonderful fish.

I am glad that the water temp. is at 40 now. Thanks man.
