Thanks for the willard advice
#1
Thanks to everyone for the advice you gave me for fishing for wipers on willard. I was able to get off work early enough on saturday to go fishing. I got to the lake around 2:30pm and after my inspection was on the lake around 2:45pm. I headed to the north western part of the lake. I was floating a worm off a bobber about 4' down while casting plastic's and rattling lippless divers into the bank. About an hour into fishing a 18" wiper took the worm. A hour later I hooked one on a charchuse plastic. I was only able to fish for another 1/2 hour and didnt catch any more. It seems they were hanging out in about 4' to 6' of water and i was fishing slow while the wind drifted me down the shoreline. But I dont think it was a bad day of fishing!! Especially after the ranger said no one was bringing anything in and the two other boaters said that had been there most of the day and hadnt had a bite. The pic im listing is the one that took the worm. Sorry its a bad pic I did it with my cellphone.
Thanks again!!

Nice report Blue, sounds like you had a good afternoon on the bay. Did you measure that wiper? Looks like a nice sized fish, did it give you a good fight? WH2

The first one was about 18"(the one in the pic) and the second whas about 16". The funny thing is they fought kind of sluggish. The took the bait and dove straight to the bottom then stopped. I thought I had lost em. pretty much just reeled them straight to the boat. This was my first time fishing for wipers so dont have much to compare them to. But they were great eatin!!!

This time of the year those wipers can be a little sluggish but that will change soon and when it does you will see a big change in the way they fight[sly]. WH2
