Tubing
#1
Saturday I went fishing with a friend on Utah Lake at Camelot. He had 2 float tubes and loaned me one. He said that after 1 trip that I would be hooked and he was right!!

I have a question for all of the tubers, tubedude and others. Now that I am a tube fanatic I want to buy my own need some pointers. I have been looking at several brands and have my eye on a caddis pro 2000 for 2 reasons price and that I sit higher than many brands. Please give me some of your wisdom.

Thanks,

Randy

The only bad day fishin is the day you don't go!

[cool][#0000ff]Welcome to the "dark side". Glad you had a good first experience.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]You should probably come spend some time on the FLOAT TUBING BOARD and go back through the archives and the picture board. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Unless you REALLY have a tight budget, don't just buy cheap. If you get serious about tubing, it won't be long before you know enough to realize you should have bought better. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The Caddis tubes used to be good. They were made in the USA and had good backup, with available replacement components. Now they are no longer made in the USA and have no repair or replacement parts. They are made strictly as a price line, for dealers to sell cheap...to people who do not know enough about tube construction and quality to make a difference.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Take a little time to learn the REAL issues, and maybe get out tubing a time or two with someone like your friend, and then buy the best quality you can afford. Naturally, there will be a lot of opinions from others on what is the best.[/#0000ff]

Welcome to the dark side. Kinda like TD said do your research now. I would recommend stepping up to at least the fishcat. But my personal favorite is the Northfork H3, also I do not know if they are still on sale but Cabela' s had the Super Fat Cats on sale as well. They are constructed a little better and will last you years. I have an old SFC that i got of fly goddess that is probably at least 12 years old I use for a loaner or for my wife and it is a great tube. Come on over and play with us on the Float Tube Boards for all your tubing needs, and addictions.

I have been float tubing since 1978 when they were nothing more than a truck tube covered in canvass with a seat, what you want most in a tube is high back that wraps around the sides so that it is comfortable and when the big waves come you will stay dry such as this one.

P.S. dont get those fins, get a set of real diving fins that will get you 2x or 3x the speed so you can get off the water fast when needed. not to mention will allow you to use less energy when tubing.
